training puppyOne of the first areas of puppy training starts with collar training. You will learn how to apply pressure when needed and reinforce positive behavior with encouragement. Once your puppy understands what you are wanting from him, he will very quickly adjust to the collar training and you will be walking with your puppy in no time. Collar training is one of the first steps towards basic puppy training and obedience.

Dog obedience can be administered once the puppy is old enough to understand and retain the lesson you have taught him. The most common error puppy owners make when they are puppy training is to start the puppy off too early and the puppy has a hard time conditioning to the requests of the over anxious puppy owner. Dog obedience has to be started when the puppy is mature enough to retain one training session after another. Simple puppy training will be practiced the moment you bring your puppy home. By learning how to teach a puppy crate training and collar training, you can be assured your puppy will learn quickly and safely.

Patience is the most important attribute to practice when training puppies. The mind of a puppy is actually at a very fragile stage until he matures into an adult dog and has confidence. During the first days of puppy training you will only want to practice for short periods and you will want to focus on behavior not discipline. Positive reinforcement will encourage the behavior you want much faster than discipline. Of course this requires time and patience, but the end result is a happy puppy and an even more happy owner.
